Trekking Everest base retreat 2019

Pokhara, at the base of the foothills, is 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu and surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the world – Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Annapurna I. For many trekkers, Pokhara is the gateway to the Himalayas. It is the starting point for treks to Jomsom and the Annapurna region. But visitors will enjoy Pokhara and the beautiful scenery even if they are not planning on heading off on a hike. By population, it is the second largest town in Nepal after Kathmandu but still does not feel like a big city. People coming from the Kathmandu Valley notice the much cleaner air and pleasant climate almost immediately. Lake Phewa, with its cluster of lakeside hotels, restaurants, and shops, is ideal for those looking for relaxation and for day excursions.

Tips : Handi-wipes. You won’t be showering much showering much. Nobody does on Everest and we all smell. Showers are not very appealing at -10 degrees Celcius and you can go for days without properly washing. Handiwipes and hand sanitizer at least helps keep you healthy. We’re fans of Gold Bond powder as well for helping with itch and rashes and just relieving sticky skin.

Stay Out of the Sun Whenever Possible. The higher you go up in altitude, the lower the levels of UV Protection you are getting. Some days on the trail, the sun can be brutal, giving you solar radiation from its powerful rays. Staying out of the sun is not only good for minimizing those pesky wrinkles and avoiding skin cancer, but it can also improve your chance of being successful on the trek. When you get sunburned you become dehydrated, and back to the tip of keeping yourself hydrated, being dehydrated can cause all sorts of problems in the mountains and eventually limiting your chance of success. Of course, when you are walking during the day, there may be no cover from those potent rays, but you need to take as much care as possible to minimize those harsh emissions. The first way to protect yourself if by applying a factor 50 sunblock throughout the day. The mountain is not the place to top up that holiday tan you are hoping to bring back to work with you on your return home, when you get back to Kathmandu after the climb, you can do as you please, but while in the mountains, you need to block those harmful rays from your skin. The second way of protecting yourself is to always wear your goofy looking, yet extremely important, sun hat. Get yourself a light weight, brimmed sunhat to wear on days when the sun is shining and you will save yourself from some of the dreaded headaches you so adamantly want to avoid. Extra details on Sightseeing tour in Nepal.

Top tips : Give Yaks and Sherpa’s the right of way at all times. When a yak train comes, move to the mountainside to get out of the way. You don’t want to be nudged off a cliff by a yak. Sherpa’s and porters work hard on Everest, they are constantly taking supplies up and down the mountain. Help make their life easier by staying out of their way.

Before you arrive and arrival in Kathmandu – Make sure you get the best rate on your flight to Nepal (Here is how). Most visitors can simply get a visa on arrival so it won’t save you much time to get one beforehand. One thing that is important is to make sure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Send us your ticket information once you have your flights and our representative will be waiting for you with a Himalayanwonders signboard. Here is short YouTube Video of what you might expect at the airport.

Travel fashion small guide

In some places, you should be even more careful. In traditional Muslim countries, for instance, you’ll find most women cover almost all visible flesh and wear a scarf over their hair. Perhaps it’s not strictly necessary to follow suit, but you may as well. Be particularly respectful in religious buildings. This doesn’t only apply to non-western countries. In Italy, holy bouncer dudes will bar your entry to some of the most beautiful buildings in the world if you turn up with bare shoulders, arms or knees.

You want a backpack that is big enough to hold just a bit more than the stuff you are bringing and not more than that. If a backpack fits everything you want, has a bit of extra room, and feels comfortable, then you have found the perfect backpack size. Manufacturers also have suggested torso and waist sizes for each model they produce, but I’ve found that the best way to know if a backpack feels right is to simply try it on. When you are at the store (and any good camping/outdoors store will do this), they should be able to stuff your backpack with the equivalent of 30 pounds (15 kilograms) so you can see how that much weight feels on your back.

While your pack does not need to be 100% waterproof (that is unless you are going on some long multi-day hike), make sure your bag is made out of a semi-waterproof material so everything doesn’t get wet in a drizzle (most travel backpacks come with tarps you can put over them in case of a severe downpour). Moreover, make sure the material won’t stay wet long and thereby get musty. I look for material that is thick but lightweight. Treated nylon fiber is really good. You should be able to pour a cup of water over it without the insides getting wet. I’m not traveling a lot during torrential downpours or monsoons, but I have been caught in small rainstorms before, and because my backpack is made out of a good material, I’ve never opened my bag to find wet clothes.

Hiking gear : The type of hiking clothing you should bring on your multi-day trek is really dependent on what season you plan to trek in. If you are trekking during the dry, hot months then you can be a little less concerned about super-freezing temperatures that dominate many winter treks. Nonetheless, there are some basic principles that you should follow when packing your hiking gear. The most important is the principle of layering.

Backpacking Essentials : Sleeping Bag: After packing my food and camera bag into the main compartment of my backpack I take the sleeping bag and stuff it into any open spaces. This allows me to easily stuff my sleeping bag into places that would be wasted space otherwise & protects my camera gear and food from getting damaged while hiking & climbing. Don’t use the sleeping bag stuff sack, it wastes space! Next I’ll shake the backpacking bag up and down. This allow all the gear to compress and settle into place for efficient volume and weight distribution. Hiking shoes : Backpacking boots: These are designed to carry heavier loads on multiday trips deep into the backcountry. Most have a high cut that wraps above the ankles for excellent support. Durable and supportive, with stiffer midsoles than lighter footwear, they are suitable for on- or off-trail travel. Materials impact a boot’s weight, breathability, durability and water resistance. Full-grain leather: Full-grain leather offers excellent durability and abrasion resistance and very good water resistance. It’s most commonly used in backpacking boots built for extended trips, heavy loads and rugged terrain. It is not as light or breathable as nylon/split-grain leather combinations. Ample break-in time is needed before starting an extended trip.

Keep your look simple. I like to wear mostly black when I travel. Sometimes I throw in one complimentary color, such as burgundy or beige.

Top destinations in Ibiza,Corsica and other Mediterranean

The Amalfi Coast is a morsel of Mediterranean magic: a rugged coastline dotted with colourful villages perched on sheer cliffs and surrounded by dazzling waters and lush nature. Featured in countless movies and TV series, the coast has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997.

One of the most popular Spanish islands attracts thousands of tourists. Known for the pristine beaches and active nightlife, Majorca attracts tourists from the 19th century. Through the decades famous artists like Fr?d?ric Chopin, Agatha Christie, George Sand and Joan Mir? have visited and worked here.

Why to go there? Great holiday destination, various activties, rich nature and culture.

When to go there? Mild Mediterranean climate attracts visitors all year round. Months from June to October are the warmest.

To visit Barcelona without witnessing the otherworldly designs of Antoni Gaud? would be a crime. The work of the figurehead of Catalan Modernism has become symbolic for the city he was born in back in 1852. Gaudi’s fantastical Gothic-style cathedral, Sagrada Familia, is one of Barcelona’s biggest attractions. This still-unfinished cathedral is unlike anything you’ve ever seen, with an interior designed to resemble a forest. Throughout the structure, there are whimsical spiral staircases, stunning stained glass, bell towers and bridges. Another Gaudi must-see is the exterior of Casa Mila also known as La Pedrera, a curvy apartment building that looks like something out of “The Hobbit.” Also worth a visit is Casa Batllo, Gaudi’s colorful allegory of the legend of St. George the dragon slayer, complete with a roof mimicking dragon scales.

The island of Kos is one of Greece’s most charming. It has beaches laden with all sorts of fun stuff, like windsurfing on Mastichari Beach, and waterfront bars at Lambi Mylos Beach, as well as quiet sheltered coves you can only get to by boat. Kos Town is very much the heart of the island action and a great place to unwind, but if you’re there, make time for historical sights like Asklepieion – an unusual early medical centre dedicated to the Greek god of health. Find 19 more beautiful Greek Islands, with our guide to the best of Greece’s archipelago.
Where to stay in Kos Town?

The Peridis Family Resort is a great choice for many reasons: it’s in Kos Town, it has three swimming pools and, for families, it even has a free kids’ club.
How to get there?

Kos has its own airport which you can fly to from the UK in under five hours.

Extra details at Flacco reizen.

Meer informatie at Villa huren Ibiza.

Top places to see in Cambodia

Sihanoukville, also known as Kampong Som, is a port city and beach resort on the Gulf of Thailand. The big attraction here are the white-sand beaches and several undeveloped tropical islands. Sihanoukville is a good place to relax and unwind, though be prepared to battle the crows during the high season or a holiday weekend.

Cambodia Landmine Museum

Cambodia Landmine Museum is the result of tireless work from landmine victim Aki Ra, who has contributed towards the huge operations to rid the country of explosives left over from the war. The museum, which is close to the Butterfly Centre, houses a collection of mines, mortars, and other weapons, as well as tells the stories of some of the countrys countless victims.

Bokor Mountain, Kampot

The 42-mile drive from Kampot town to Bokors peak is a bikers dream, with it only accessible to motorbikes and cars. It is home to the Popokvil waterfall, a giant Buddhist statue, an abandoned Bokor Hill Station, a giant casino, derelict church, unparalleled views, and a refreshingly cool climate. Looking for Luxury Villa Siem Reap?

In Kompong Som Province, Sihanoukville is a tale of two halves, with a bustling but drab central district and its shoreline area home to a vibrant beach resort. The beaches here are Cambodia’s top destination for sand and sun holidays and are popular with both local and foreign tourists. There’s something for every kind of beach-goer here. Sokha Beach and Independence Beach boast the luxury hotels. Brash Ochheuteal Beach and the Serendipity Beach area are the most popular sandy strips and in recent years have emerged as one of Southeast Asia’s backpacker party areas. For a much quieter scene, just to the south is Otres Beach with beach huts huddled directly on the sand, a sprinkling of classy boutique hotels, and a number of up-and-coming restaurants.

Tonle Sap is Cambodia’s most important waterway and Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. As well as being an important source of food and a vital tool for Cambodian irrigation, the lake itself is home to 170 floating villages that depend on fishing for their livelihood, with homes built directly on the water. The houses, shops, churches, schools, and temples of these villages are built on rustic buoy foundations of lashed together barrels and bamboo, and all transport is by boat. They’re a fascinating place to spend a day exploring. One of the most interesting is the sprawling village of Kompong Luong, near the town of Pursat on Tonle Sap’s western shore, although the most popular village to visit is Chong Kneas near Siem Reap.

If you are done with beaches and islands in Cambodia and want to visit a commercial and urban market place for a change, Banlung is the place for you. You will find a lot of shops in the markets here and you can buy many souvenirs from here at attractive prices for your dear ones back home.

Location At a distance of about 636km from the Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh.

Timings Can be visited any time during the year.

Tips : Buy your gear in Kathmandu Trekking poles, hats, gloves, socks, down jackets, sleeping bags etc. Everything is cheap cheap cheap. Dont be Afraid of a Little Headache. I hate to say it, but it is almost inevitable that you will get some sort of headache at some stage on the trip. Unfortunately, I suffer from bad headaches at altitude and have had to learn ways to manage them and not let them ruin my experience. One of the best ways to combat these headaches is by listening to the advice of Tip 4; always drink plenty of water while in the mountains. One of the greatest causes of headaches in the mountains is due to dehydration, so drinking water can greatly help to eliminate or lessen your headaches. Another trick that I have found to be helpful is to add a Disprin to my water every morning and another each evening. This will help to slightly thin out your blood and help to reduce headaches caused by the thickening of your blood at altitude. We highly recommend taking Ibuprofen helps reduce inflammation and pressure in your brain. These headaches are completely normal to experience at high to extreme altitude and they are not something to be too afraid of, however if these headaches get very extreme and limit your ability to think straight, eat, sleep, or walk in the mountains, you may need to seek medical attention.

180retreats is launching a trekking expedition on the Everest in April 2019, read more on Everest Base Trekking Camp. This retreat will be like nothing youve ever experienced, designed to awaken your creativity and inner self. Were pairing transformative yoga, meditation, and the most epic adventure to the base camp of the tallest mountain in the world. With plenty of time for writing and reflection, youre bound to experience a renewal at the soul level.

Tips : Keep batteries close to your body at all times. Sleep with them in your sleeping bags. Charging batteries is very expensive per hour (almost $5 per hour) The cold drains batteries quickly, extend their life by keeping them warm. Charges for batteries = Near or below Namche Bazaar 100-150 NPR/hour – Closer to Base Camp 300 NPR/hour

Buy Gear in Kathmandu Kathmandu has more trekking shops then you can count and intense competition means you can get great prices on gear you might not be able to afford at home. I bought my wife a great down jacket for around $50 that would have cost over $300 in the US. At first glance a lot of the gear looks similar but quality varies quite a bit and its not necessarily related to price (Heres what to look for). If you like we can arrange for one of the team from Himalayanwonders to accompany you while you shop and help you find what you need.

Sri Lanka travel agency

Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is an island nation south of India in the Indian Ocean. Its diverse landscapes range from rainforest and arid plains to highlands and sandy beaches. Its famed for its ancient Buddhist ruins, including the 5th-century citadel Sigiriya, with its palace and frescoes. The city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital, has many ruins dating back more than 2,000 years.

When it comes to wildlife tours, Sri Lanka is most famous for majestic Asian elephant and leopards, (one of the five “big cats”). Sri Lanka holds the world record for highest leopard density in the world, here leopard are super large since they are the highest ranking formidable predators in Sri Lanka, they have evolved more like a jaguar with more muscular, more powerful may be even more powerful than a jaguar, they roam National parks proudly with no idea of fear whatsoever. Not to mention Sri Lanka has the highest density of elephants in Asia. Also World largest elephant gathering happens here in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lank attractions include :

Head towards the golden beaches of the south coast of the island to witness yet another UNESCO World Heritage site: the Galle Dutch Fort, built by the Portuguese and fortified by the Dutch. Today, with charming villas, ancient churches and cobblestoned streets, the fort still retains much of its quaint colonial aura and enchants anyone who walks upon its ramparts overlooking a deep blue sea.

Located in Kandy, Sri Lankas ancient hill capital, the Temple of the Tooth is considered to be the very heart of the nation. Wars had been fought for the possession of the Sacred Tooth Relic as its believed that whoever holds the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha holds the power and the right to rule the country. Being a predominantly Buddhist country, the Temple of the Tooth is the most sacred place of worship for Buddhists in Sri Lanka. Visit between July and August to witness the spectacular Festival of the Tooth (Kandy Perahera), a vibrant religious procession complete with beautifully adorned elephants, drummers, fire eaters, energetic dancers and stilt walkers.

The main attraction is Wilpattu National Park, i visited it with help from www.go4safari.com, a travel experts agency specialized in Sri Lanka tours,

Wilpattu National Park is a park located on the island of Sri Lanka. The unique feature of this park is the existence of “Willus” – Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with rainwater. Located in the Northwest coast lowland dry zone of Sri Lanka.

WILPATTU NATIONAL PARK is located 26 km north of Puttalam (approximately 180 km north of Colombo) spanning from the northwest coast inland towards the ancient capital of Anuradhapura (50 km to the east of the park). Covering an impressive 425 sq miles, the park is Sri Lanka ‘s largest, and having reopened in March, 2010 it is just a matter of time before it becomes a popular eco-tourism destination. Wilpattu is a fairly thick dry zone jungle interspersed with a number of flood plain lakes banked with delicate white sands. It boasts an impressive variety of flora in huge expanses of forest, and varied wildlife, including deer, elephants, wild boar, sloth bears and leopards.

Greece yacht charter

Why is Greece so special?

What makes the region so special?
With 6,000 islands, 4,000 years of history, great hospitality and scrumptious food. Only in Greece! That’s why Greece is a paradise for yacht owners, and if you are a yach owner you also need a Greece catamaran yacht charter.

A Feast for the Senses
Mediterranean cuisine is at its best in this region. Every part of Greece has its own specialty of traditional dishes. The land, the land and the crafty hands of the local inhabitants produce an unique combination of flavors you will never forget. A traditional meal at a taverna consists of meze. Meze consists of small plates similar to the Spanish tapas. Here youll receive plate, after plate of grilled veggies, salads, tzatziki, saganaki, feta, lamb and a variety of seafood. While in Greece you should eat and enjoy as many great local Greek products as you can. Here the yogurt is among some of the finest you will ever taste and Greece boasts a great variety of local liquors and Greek wines. No proper Greek meal is complete without bottles of Ouzo or Tsikoudia, whatever the local spirit is. You can shoot it or mix it with water giving it a cloudy white appearance. Yamas! meaning to our health is the way to cheers.

Greece Yacht Charter
The best way to see Greece is with your own chartered yacht. The magic of a yacht is that it is an island in itself and you can see things that are impossible to visit otherwise. There are many places in Greece that are not accessible by road or by any other means than by yacht, and these are the most magical places that a person can visit.

Which areas should I visit on a yacht?
Sailing in Greece is a near-mythical blend of line-of-sight cruising and longer, more challenging passages. The Ionian Seas light winds and warm waters invite sailors of all abilities to take on a real adventure, while the Saronic caters for those looking for a more testing voyage. Set sail from our base in Lefkas for some classic Greek island hopping, or go to Corfu for some steady coastal cruising. Our Athens Zea base is the ideal launchpad for trips into the Cyclades and wider Saronic.

Instead of mooring in a particular marina, you can sail to a secluded cove around the corner where you can moor in all privacy. Then you wake in the morning to discover an unbelievable bay that is completely unique and unspoilt, ready for you to explore.

The most superyachts with charter rates above 200,000 per week are based in Athens which is one reason why Greece is the most popular yacht charter destination in the world.

It is impossible in a lifetime to see everything in Greece. Therefore experience the life on an island and explore it in its entirety as every island will offer an unique experience to the visitor.

Hospitality
The Greek concept of hospitality, filoxenia , is deeply rooted in rituals that are expressions of an authentic relationship between guest, i.e., stranger, and host based on generosity, courtesy, and friendship. To the Greeks, moreover, the notion of xenia frames a form of ritualized friendship consisting of rules of behavior associated with respect, protection, and guidance that must not be violated. For instance, respect between host and guest, especially genuine displays of honor by the host at receiving the guest, is a longstanding staple of Greek hospitality. The true meaning of Greek hospitality, moreover, involves not only equalizing a stranger/guest with the host, but also making the her/him feel protected and taken care of, and at the end of the hosting encounter, even providing guidance to the next destination.

Geography
Greek geography is as varied as you might imagine. From brilliant white roofs cut against wonderful ravishing blue skies to astonishing sunsets over crystal clear azure waters. The Greeks were historically a sea-faring nation, largely because of the numerous deep water bays in the Greek archipelago that could harbor their ships. These small bays make for a wonderful place to go for a swim or snorkeling where youre always be rewarded with tranquility. The only way to visit these secluded bays is with a private yacht charter.

Greece is filled with many archaeological sites, ancient ruins and buildings that easily date back to the turn of the century. Many of these are very well protected and restored and are a great tourist attraction. The Greeks are very proud of their remarkable history. After all, they gave us modern philosophy and democracy.

Affordability
Accommodation prices are affordable and you will always get value for money. Whether you are travelling in luxury or looking for budget options, you can find it all in Greece. Life is more affordable in Greece than other European countries and tourists can enjoy all the pleasure of life at affordable prices.

Greece is one of the most popular world travelling destinations and for good reason!

If you don’t want to have to juggle searching through multiple sites to look for and compare travel deals, Skyscanner is for you. The site uses a self-built technology to search through hundreds of travel sites for hotels, flights, and car rental deals. Plus Skyscanner launched a Facebook Messenger bot in 2016 to better help you book tickets on the go.

Momondo is a travel search website that offers a cheap way to find flights, hotels, and car rentals. Rather than booking your tickets directly through the site, Momondo links out to the relevant booking sites, which means extra fees aren’t tacked onto the price of your airfare. In other words, you can find flights that are good for your wanderlust and for your wallet.

You’ll need to know what you’re looking for on Viator.com – this website has over 60,000 different tours across the world. It’s particularly good for day trips as well as skip-the-queue entry and tour packages for top museums and attractions, especially at some of the most crowded sights like the Eiffel Tower or the Vatican. Signing up to their newsletter will also give you 10% off your first booking and access to members-only sales.

AirfareWatchdog works best for travelers ready to take off at the drop of a deal. The site has actual people lurking on airline Web sites in anticipation of fare sales. They sign up for rewards programs to snag promotional codes and discount offers that can be passed on to AirfareWatchdog users. Plus, the site includes fares from Southwest, Allegiant and other small airlines that may not appear on bigger search sites such as Kayak. (Also check out Hotelwatchdog, which fetches hotel listings that offer great values, meaning they have prices lower than similar nearby hotels, good locations and favorable TripAdvisor reviews.)
